Abstract Temperature-time cycles are essential for the formation of microstructures and thus mechanical properties materials. In additive manufacturing, components undergo changing temperature regimes because track- layer-wise build-up. Because high brittleness titanium aluminides, preheating is used to prevent cracking. This also effects thermal history. present study, local solidification conditions during manufacturing process Ti-48Al-2Cr-2Nb with laser metal deposition (LMD) investigated by both simulation experimental investigations. Dependencies build-up height, temperatures, parameters on resulting microstructure considered, including heat treatment. Solidification found be dependent build height actual temperature, location in melt pool. Influences chemical composition observed. Resulting differences can almost balanced through post
